Cutting the veneer

For any type of product, make sure to use high quality, sharp tools.
Using a dull instrument can result in unwanted breakage of the veneer.

Uncoated veneers without adhesive backing

Cover both sides of the veneer with low-tack masking tape. (Alternatively, you can wrap the veneer
in aluminum foil or thin plastic wrap; try and see which option works best for your application)
Using a sharp pair of scissors, you can cut the veneer into a desired shape. Be careful not to break
the veneer when removing the masking tape.

When cutting in a straight line with a knife and a ruler, it is much better to make multiple gentle passes
rather than trying to cut it in a single pass

Coated and/or adhesive veneers

These can be cut relatively easily using a good pair of scissors. For added protection, you can also cover
either side with a masking tape.

Glueing and attaching cut pieces

For veneers without adhesive backing, cut pieces can be easily glued on to wood, metal, glass, plastic,
and other materials using clear bond (most high-strength glue products in the market), epoxy resin,
polyester resin, and even thin double-sided tape. The type of gluing you should use depends on
a number of factors, including the surface, size, application, and final processing of your work.
In general, gel-type glues work better than common liquid-type glues.

If you're using adhesive veneers, the double-sided tape attached to the veneer should be strong enough for
most applications. However, you can apply extra adhesive to the double-sided tape for added strength.
